On October 8, within the framework of the XVII Science Festival at Moscow State University, a meeting of the section "Physics and Mathematics" of the Forum of Young Researchers was held at the Faculty of Physics. Such events are held annually, but this year, for the first time after a three-year break related to the coronavirus epidemic, the meeting was held in person.

The section presented the design and research work of schoolchildren related to the physical and mathematical sciences. The meeting was opened by Alexander Bogolyubov, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Faculty of Physics, Honored Professor of M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University. He addressed the participants with parting words and spoke about the scientific work at the department. In addition to him, the jury included associate professors Natalia Shapkina and Evgeny Mikhailov.

The sections included invited presentations by students of the physics department: they were designed to demonstrate to schoolchildren how to do science at a slightly older age. 2nd year student Daniil Makeev spoke about time series of data, 3rd year student Anastasia Stepanova spoke about metal melts in a magnetic field. 2nd year students Elizaveta Balaganskaya and Ekaterina Zhikhareva shared their personal experience of entering Moscow State University.

A student of school No. 548 (Moscow) Malvina Belousova presented a work on modeling the spread of coronavirus in a population. Maria Karamasheva from Lyceum No. 87 (Nizhny Novgorod) demonstrated the results of her program, which allows forecasting the weather in her hometown. The youngest participants - Egor Ryzhenko, Alisa and Violetta Popovs (Proton Educational Center, Moscow) - presented the Anti-Lentyai labor control system. Rafael Shahnazaryan (school №69, Yerevan, Armenia) spoke about effective financial planning. Dmitry Kozlov and Danil Vafaev (University Gymnasium, Moscow State University) described the action of the dynamo mechanism in accretion disks. The topic of cosmic magnetic fields was continued by Dmitry Postupov and Araltan Ochirov (University Gymnasium of Moscow State University).

We are sure that all forum participants enjoyed it and look forward to continued cooperation in the future. We also note that the section "Ecology" of the Forum of Young Researchers is held by the Museum of Earth Science of Moscow State University.
